Commercial Transformations

Vision to Vinyl: Bringing TNT Music to Life

Transforming Commercial Spaces – Together

We’ve always prided ourselves on transforming commercial spaces and bringing dreams to fruition. When Dayna Tolman reached out about a tenant improvement project for a new record store that her son, Tre, would be running, our team was immediately jazzed. As a musician myself, I instantly saw the potential for a truly special project. A record store? Hell, yeah!

The journey to create TNT Music (8416 Bowdoin Way, Edmonds, WA 98026) was a testament to collaboration, ingenuity, and a shared passion for music. Tre’s entrepreneurial spirit was evident from a young age; he always envisioned doing big things. With his parents’ support and our construction expertise, that vision began to take shape.

Search for Retail Space & Renovation Contractor

The chosen location, a former dog grooming business and hair salon, presented a unique challenge. Dayna described its initial condition as “absolutely horrible,” and with Tre and Dayna both allergic to dogs, a thorough transformation was essential. We knew this wouldn’t be a simple facelift – it required a complete remodel.

Having previously worked on their home, building a beautiful back deck, the Tolman-Snow family already knew our commitment to quality and communication. Our user-friendly portal and consistent updates, including photos from our on-site team, ensured transparency every step of the way. We were thrilled to be their choice, and the excitement for this project was palpable.

[We had them rebuild our back deck and really appreciated the process to use. One of the things I love about them is they use technology. So they have a really nice, user-friendly portal. – Tammy Snow]

Design and Branding by Tre

A key element in bringing Tre’s vision to life was the involvement of Samantha Black of Samantha Black Studios, an interior designer we knew would be the perfect fit. Samantha’s talent shone through in her ability to truly empower Tre in the design process, ensuring his voice was heard and he was the final decision-maker. This personal touch resulted in a space that genuinely reflected his personality and passion.

From custom features like the impressively large, soft-close sliding office door – a detail that proved critical for Tre’s in-store experience – to the innovative slatted wall in the back, every element was carefully considered. The slatted wall, a design element we’d previously used as a headboard in a master bedroom remodel, served a dual purpose at TNT Music: beautifully concealing the back office while also allowing commercial-style heat to flow into the space.

Creative Solutions & City Problem Solving

Overcoming city and permitting delays, as well as product challenges – even cutting down cabinets to achieve the perfect counter height – we poured our dedication into every detail. Handing over the keys after this long journey was a truly rewarding moment for our entire team. Seeing the finished product, a vibrant record store buzzing with music and life, fills us with immense pride.

From Grand Opening to Thankful Thursday

TNT Music’s grand opening was a resounding success, a testament to the hard work and passion invested by everyone involved. We are incredibly blessed to have played a part in bringing this dream to life and are excited to see what the future holds for Tre and TNT Music.

[It’s here, it’s operating, and I’m just excited to see what comes of it. And and I’m wishing them the absolute best that it’s successful. – Scott Tenhulzen]

If you see this in time, stop by Thursday, November 5, 2025 from 1-5pm for the inaugural “5 Corners” Thankful Thursday event with 20 participating businesses featuring exclusive discounts at participating stores.

We extend our sincerest gratitude to our partners who helped us transform this commercial space! Your invaluable contributions were pivotal in bringing the Tolman-Snow family’s vision to life and establishing a stunning retail space for the launch of TNT Music.
